Presentation of the association Le Labo M

Association le Labo M

The association le Labo M aims to create social bonding and to reclaim artisanal and agricultural know-how for resilience in the face of ecological and societal constraints.
To achieve these goals, the association organizes public events, experiments with alternative lifestyles and implements transmission and pedagogy programs.
The association was created in 2018 by eight founding members to give a legal structure to activities that had existed on site for many years. It now has about thirty members and meets in videoconference every week to prepare the next activities described below.

Activities of the association

Here are the broad outlines of the activities carried out by the association:
  • Organization of music and dance festivals (300 festival-goers over three days, twice a year: swing in spring, folk in autumn),
  • Organization of an arts and crafts market (20 exhibitors, participative workshops animated by the craftsmen all weekend, repair-café, DIY workshops, etc.)
  • Screening-debates about once a month, with movies or documentaries related to the subjects tackled by the association (online or on site),
  • Hosting of international volunteers all year round (wwoofing/workaway): participation in life on site, cultural opening, search for energy and food autonomy, self-management.
  • Participatory workcamps around woodworking in particular: the carpentry workshop opens its doors regularly to help people rediscover the possibilities of "handmade" products and their beautiful imperfections.
  • Food-producing garden: the vegetable garden and the orchards of Morimont are experimentation grounds for the principles of permaculture with the objective of providing the local inhabitants with healthy and abundant fruits and vegetables and to rediscover methods of transformation and conservation accessible to everyone.
  • Reflections and experimentation on the theme of digital awareness: influence of digital technology on individuals (children or not), search for autonomy on digital tools (open-source, accessibility, etc.), resistance to the control of the economy of advertising in the digital world.

Welcome to the south of Alsace

The association is based in the south of Alsace, on the border with Switzerland, in a beautiful place called Le Morimont. Through the Labo M, Le Morimont becomes an inspiring and revitalizing place where people in quest for meaning or change can meet other people, find skills and an environment conducive to the progress of their approach. From the barn to the carpentry, through the garden and the kitchen, each place becomes a support for experimentation for the members of the association.

Join the adventure !

You are welcome to join the adventure for a while. The projects will progress all the better if we have driving forces in the association!
The open membership fee to become a member of Labo M allows the association to pay its fixed costs and develop its activities.

The donations received will allow us to:
  • cover the association's running costs (insurance, hosting of the website, mail service, VPN for members, internal organization tool of the association, etc.),
  • participate in the payment of the rights of diffusion of the films for the screening-debates,
  • fit out the association's premises in order to welcome volunteers in good conditions,
  • facilitate the development of the association's activities on site (tools, materials, consumables),
  • support new initiatives of the members of the association in the framework of the values of the association.
  • and many other things to be imagined according to the available means, both human and financial!

The objectives of the association are clear, but the means evolve according to the resources and the situations: we adapt as we go along!
